Export and marketing council
In February 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, appointed 31 representatives to sit on the export and marketing council of Business Iceland for the next four years. Ten of the representatives do not require a nomination. The minister of fisheries and agriculture; the minister of tourism, industry and innovation; the minister of education and culture; the Confederation of Icelandic employers; the Association of Icelandic municipalities; and the Regional marketing office collaborative group nominate the remaining 21.
The council’s role is to define, approve, and monitor the implementation of the long-term strategy of the government and economy for marketing and exports. The council shall consider proposals for projects carried out in cooperation between the business sector and the government and ensure that such projects align with the defined long-term strategy. The council can appoint working groups from the council for specific projects, and Business Iceland shall advise them.
